I recently received a glowing book review on Amazon for You Can’t Judge a Bee by Its Color.
The first time I read “You Can’t Judge a Bee by Its Color,” I was thinking this adorable book is so appropriate and applicable for the day in which we live. But, on second thought, I realized this message is a timeless one—for kids of ALL AGES, from 3 to 103.
Perhaps we’ve all been “Bob” at some point in our lives, looked down upon and excluded because we are different. But perhaps we can also relate to the bees that made fun of Bob and did not accept Bob because of his differences. The message in this beautiful book inspires the reader to allow inclusion and diversity to be a positive aspect of our community, our families, our society.
A big shout out to Nan for her creative approach to this life lesson! And I LOVE her collage illustrations throughout the book—especially the flowers and the cute and clever poses of the bees.
